Asel AKMATOVA

Manager of art projects. She has been the director of Kurama Art Gallery in Bishkek for several years. She was one of the organizers of the first Central Asia Pavilion in Venice (2005) and initiator and manager of a number of international artistic projects like, the first International Exhibition of Contemporary Art in Bishkek (2004), the Kyrgyz Pavilion at the Biennale of Baku (2009), and publications on fine and contemporary art of Kyrgyzstan. In 2010, she founded a non-profit public association Art Initiatives, with the goal of promoting educational and artistic projects.

Andris BRINKMANIS

Manager of art projects, art critic and free-lance curator. Born in Riga (Latvia). He has been teaching art history and curatorial practice in Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milano. His curatorial projects include October. Exit, Memory and Desire (2007), Mortals. Anton Corbijn (2005). As a commissioner he has collaborated with the Estonian Pavilion for the 52nd Venice Biennale and with curator Marco Scotini for the exhibitions Der Prozess. Collective Memory and Social History, 4th Prague Biennale (2007). Lives and works in Venice and Milano, Italy.

Adrienn HRUSKA
Assistant commissioner

Adrienn has been working in the field of arts and culture for ten years, mostly as a coordinator of various projects and as a museum educator. In the past four years she worked in Bactria Cultural Centre in Dushanbe, Tajikistan and at Art Initiatives in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Some of the major projects she has overseen or participated in includes the Jazz Festival in Dushanbe (2009), European Week, Dushanbe (2009, 2010), Artist and Society – Artist in Residency project in Central Asia, (2010).
